Our Family's Journey from Hustle to Harmony

Let’s rewind to the moment our family decided to pack up and ditch the chaotic corporate grind of Houston for something a little more us.

Picture it: a family of wanderers, led by an introverted, coffee-obsessed dreamer (me, obviously), a laid-back, hands-on hippie husband, and three mischievous corgis who have more personality than a reality TV cast. Oh, and let’s not forget our son, navigating the wild world of adulthood while still managing to make time for his quirky little family. We decided it was time for something different—something real.

Cue the Pacific Northwest. We first came for the scenic views and stayed for the magical energy that practically vibrates through the trees (and the coffee, let’s not forget that PNW coffee). Our first visit felt like stepping into an Instagram filter that was made just for us—evergreen trees, misty mountains, and enough rain to make even the most weathered city dweller like me appreciate nature’s rhythm. The more we explored, the more we felt at home in the cool, crisp air and the serene, off-the-grid vibes. We started daydreaming about a life where we could hang up our corporate hats and dive headfirst into building something that would make us feel alive.

Enter: Whim Away Resort.

Our dream? To create a community where people like us—people who crave adventure, nature, and the freedom to be—can unplug, recharge, and reconnect with the simpler things in life. We want a place where you can roll in with your RV, make some new friends around a campfire, learn how to carve a wooden spoon, and maybe even pick up a new hobby (because honestly, when’s the last time you tried something new just because you could?). We're all about no judgment, embracing the weird, and enjoying each moment as it comes.

As of now, we’re still in the "dreaming with our eyes wide open" phase, but 2026 is where the real fun begins. We'll be updating you on the journey as we clear land, make trails through the trees, and design the ultimate retreat. Think cabins, campsites, and luxury RV hookups where you can park your rig and forget about the world for a bit. Plus, we’re adding a clubhouse that’s just as cozy as it is stylish—somewhere to unwind with a good book (or a glass of wine), swap stories by the fire, and bask in the warmth of a community that gets it.

In between the land updates and build-out progress, we’ll be sharing the highs, the lows, and all the unexpected moments that make this journey ours. This is about more than just building a resort—it’s about embracing the adventure of life, one campfire and corgi at a time.
